Description This handmade designer throw pillow is made from a beautiful French Tapestry in muted tones of coral, peach, mauve, gold, cream and olive. This luxury vintage textile is a significant piece of history! As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. How can we tell the approximate age of this tapestry? The answer lies within the picture itself; the scene, fiber content, type of stitch, color and consistency of color all have a bearing. This French Tapestry throw pillow pictures a “Royal Hunting Scene”, also it has very small uneven stitches; a burn test indicates all “natural fiber” content. There are fewer than 20 colors in the weave. There is a variance in color from top to bottom, most visibly the peach tone. Together, all of these factors indicate a textile of great age. Circa 1850 – 1900. The backing is made from a dusty grey/olive toned raw silk. Features and Unpacked Dimensions This vintage textile comes to you reconditioned and re-designed. To ensure function & facilitate moderate cleaning for countless years to come this tapestry has been adhered to a cotton backing. Measurements are roughly 17”x17”. There is a top facing gold metal zipper. Additional Value This textile has gone through thorough cleaning & sanitization; A new duck feather insert is included with your purchase. Alternatively, a poly fill insert is available upon request. Special Note There are three variations within this set. The pillow entitled “dogs” has a minor flaw in upper middle left quadrant of the pillow, just below the tree branches. A small area where the tapestry has been stitched to secure a loose weave, this minor flaw accounts for its discounted price. It is visible to the eye only upon close examination, still a unique and wonderful addition to any room.
